juicy

last night when i was doing the dishes i noticed all of my juice cups either don't match or have little chips. this is a problem. i need some cute new ones in a hurry.

i like these. juicy juicy juicy.

soulbrother stephano

i have a list of growing evidence that stephano tonchi from tmag should in fact be my best friend. to prove my love i am doing something i said i wasn't going to do: post from the selby.

we both love cowboys.

appreciate a clean desk.

and share a love of glassware.

teef

my poor coworker lost his two front teeth in an unfortunate rough housing accident. i've been left swamped at work! he refuses to send me a photo in his absence, i found these to sate my curiosity.

i hope they sate you guys until the end of the week! aww, aww & aww.

its the weekend. its finally warm out and i am so ready for a mini break. i'm off for the holiday to the city of brotherly love for some good old fashioned american fun with some good old fashioned american broads. hot dog!

squash anyone?

so last night i went to the university club of ny to watch a gal pal's bf play in his squash final. and i thought i would share my findings. my findings are as follows: the club is awesome! i've walked by it on madison so many times, I now realize I was too mesmerized by the smell of the indoor pool to have noticed it there. i didn't make it downstairs to the pool as it is occupied by nude dudes (per the nyt). but i think i'd strip down to give it a try.

right? the club's pride and joy, rightfully so is their library. it has a fantastic collection of book and art, and ridiculous architecture. there are pictures from this century on the web, but it looks identical today as it did in james alexander's "A history of the University Club of New York, 1865-1915."

in other news, i'm really into squash now though. its my new thing so be forewarned, there will be related posts to follow.

gossip girl gingham

mondays are rough for me in the morning. the transition from play to work clothes keeps me paralyzed in front of my closet. so either i have something crazy on or my hair looks crazy because i ran out trying to avoid said crazy outfit. these sentiments are further heightened due to my apt's proximity to private high schools.

these girls (as i've mentioned before) are so incredibly kempt and chic, it makes me want to start wearing sunglasses until i get to the subway. i noticed per girl herd there were approximately 2-3 in gingham which can only mean 1 thing: i need to get me some of that.

happy weekend

for the sake of order i decided to list out my weekend plans into two catagories:
1. my actual weekend plans
-theory sample sale
-little ashes (mr pattinson as dali) at the paris, sigh, theatre
-beer garden in astoria battle of the bands (also note there are 2 new bgs in queens, here and here)
2. my fictional weekend plans
-renting a house in the hamptons, and by house i mean grey gardens
-boating with the bros pictured above
-bar hop downtown with my cool new friends, namely sebastian, from bravo's newest series NYC prep
-then probably just sleep off my hang over on my new zebra skin lined bed recently confiscated from my billionaire boyfriend Tamir Sapir

hope you all have fab weekends!

moi, moi-même et je

my sister's bountiful flickr account is almost entirely comprised self-portraits. i always found it slightly unsettling. though upon reflection today i was reminded of a painter i had heard about when i was in paris in the fall. his name is arnaud prinstet. he has painted an autoportrait everyday for the last 10 years.

i found his blog and a great article in ladd magazine. he says his work is a diary of who he is each day, a body of art cataloguing his perpetual state of transformation. he has great videos of himself painting around paris. he's even more adorable than these portraits suggest.  amazingly introspective as illustrated in both work and life, he studied engineering but then later on in life decided to study art in NY. maybe i should cut my sister some slack.

i bike nyc

so friday is national bike to work day. all the details are here. i would totally do it to if the following conditions would permit: 1. i had a bicycle 2. a bicycle could fit in my apt 3. my building at work wouldn't stone me to death if as much thought about bring a bicycle up in this shh. alas, i hope one of you can ride in my absence. if i could do it though, i would: 1. wear this cute shirt 2. listen to this song, "nothing else i can say eh eh" by lady gaga 3. thats it really, cherry cherry boom boom.

of moms and motherhood

happy mothers day. my mom is in dc today and as i can not celebrate her wonder properly i decided to montage of a few of my mom's fave things:
our jack russell, buddy. we have 2 but let's be honest he's the real fave;

reading (read: harry potter);
iced green teas from starbucks;

aww my four eyed smiley dad;
my parents' home on LI and our annual geese guests;
& my mom's ultimate girl crush MS.

09 May 2009

while jesus is saving, i'm spending

all my money at anthropologie. (i've had that st vincent song in my head all day). after a fun yet fruitless journey to the domino tag sale, i strolled over to my home away from home, anthro. for me this store is pretty close to a religious experience, as i can only explain the selection as a work of divine intervention. its spooky how they always have exactly what i didn't know i needed.

right? that dress has ponies on it for goodness sakes. its online but the dinner plates you have to see to believe in the store, only 7 buckeroos.

07 May 2009

oh mother

mother's day totally creeped up on me this year. so my poor mamacita will be getting flowers, but if she had a better daughter or if i had a mother didn't love her pearls so very much, this necklace would have been purchased.

dogwooded dreams

i just got home from a work event. one of my favorite parts of my job is picking out the flowers. we did huge 4 foot white dogwood arrangements. it transformed a typical midtown conference space to a springtime wonderland. made me want a bit of dogwood for myself actually.

hey

hey miss me? i've missed you. i've been adjusting to my single status and trying to stay employed. but gosh darn it, i just can't quit you. {find these soaps here}

masks in the workplace

i feel like my office has a revolving door today. i'm going to take a new approach for the rest of the week that i think is going to scare them off. i'll let you know how it goes.

wednesday

friday, a little sexy note to end the week on.

20 February 2009

mission accomplished

working in corporate america these days is rough on the nerves. i've always been thrifty but with all these cut backs i've become a full blown paranoid penny pinchin recessionista. so its been difficult to see these beautiful lace necklaces everywhere as the prices have been startling! where i appreciate the artistry and the workmanship i just can't stomach the price tag. i was so happy to find this one here for just 17 dollars. sigh it made my day.

12 February 2009

i just wasn't into it

my two girl friends and i went to union square, bit the bullet and saw he's just not that into you. my experience can be summed up in this article, i would definitely recommend reading it. highlights include: "Ben Affleck, inexplicably, has a sailboat" & "I just heard sixty women go "awwwww"." i didn't take offense as the author did on behalf of womankind, as I too inexplicably i drew parallels to my own experiences. i'm still sulking about my resultant baby depresh.  it's saving grace truly was the harry potter preview! did anyone like it? did i miss something?

05 February 2009

her morning elegance

i've been having the most vivid dreams lately. i wake up and for a few hazy moments i can't remember if it really happened. i think if someone were to video tape me in my sleep it would go something like this.

cool right? i really love the song too.

04 February 2009

love on the cheap

for the romantic recessionista. only 19.99 and found here.

03 February 2009

lego vision

i'm grateful everyday to live in new york city because i'm constantly exposed to new points of view and perspectives. this way of seeing the world is one i'm happy to adopt. i just need to scrounge up some legos.

30 January 2009

make it after all

this was a tough week! remember that episode on sex and city, when carrie is in the hamptons and she runs into berger and she has this great rant about breakups and how difficult it is, and then he practically runs away screaming. well if you don't that's fine but the point is she discussed the difficulty of "the dividing of the things." that was this week. but next week is the week that i resolve to be a better blogger. thanks to all you lovely ladies who have been sending positive vibes my way, (joanna has even offered to set me up via her amazing blog smitten!) i'm going to try and embrace my singledom for the winter and spring. but watch out, because i am already hopeful it will be a summer of love.

26 January 2009

french girl crush du jour

forgive me as i'm just getting on the yelle bandwagon--but isn't she so cute? i listen to her at the gym and it always keeps me feelin boppy. and more importantly makes me want a short hair cut, especially in this video. je l'adore.

23 January 2009

chocolate discovery

even though whole foods is expensive and i know i can get things cheaper at fairway. i can't help myself. i love it. its home to me and i won't deny myself. especially since of my icelandic chocolate discovery.

i'm in love. its creamy and dark and amazing packaging to boot. swoon.

22 January 2009

subliminal love messages

its been a while since i've been on the market. and i was wondering whether or not i exude my newfound status or if i need to up the ante. do you think hearts will help?

i imagine myself with the heart earrings (the sweater is for an alternative scenario), standing at columbus circle waiting for the C, and down the stairs comes mr. cute.  he sees me and i him but he wonders could that goddess possibly be single, and he double takes, and if his eyes don't mistake him, he sees heart earrings? yes they are heart earrings! he sighs and utters, thank goodness girlfriend is looking for love.  <3 <3

21 January 2009

for the love of legs and all things chilly

i've taken a pretty aggressive stance against leg warmers in the past, but this tonight has pushed me over the edge. i like skirts and i'm not giving them up for january.

i've had a rough december and a rocky new year. had a breakup. had a family crisis. had major job changes. but i miss this little blog and all the little blogs that inspired me, so i'm giving it a go again. xx {photo via}

03 December 2008

lucky no. 7

lovely emily tagged me in a game, the challenge is to say 7 random thing about myself and then pass it on. i will comply with the former.
one, i dont eat anything from the sea. i've never acquired a taste and i fear i never ever will. no sushi, no tuna salad, and please hold the invite to clambake, its a no can do.
two, i'm a voracious and insatiable reader. i came home from work last night, made a salad, sat on the couch read 400 pages and then went to bed. its how i roll.
three, i'm the oldest of five kids, and i have classic first child syndrome, its in everything i do.
four, i love new york deeply and truly, but i'd leave her in a ny minute for paris for good, no turnsy backys, out of here.
five, i'm going to publish a novel one day. when i do ill let you know.
six, in the spirit of winter, i'd add that i ski but am like bambi on ice. i can not skate for the life of me. seriously, tried it so many times and its just not a possibility for me.
seven, i wear skirts almost everyday. winter, spring, summer, fall.

02 December 2008

a parisian peek

i'm trying to get my life back to regularly scheduled programing but its challenging. its hard to work because all i want to do i look at my photos. good thing my monitor faces away from curious passerbys.

here's a few from an initial sort. i really liked going this time of year. its not crowded, i had the louvre practically to myself, christmas came early and i didn't even miss the sunshine.
